"Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." ... Jesus
We believe that it is not enough to pray for people who will go and share the Good News of Jesus with the world. Nor is it enough to hope that others will go or give so that others are enabled to go. Some of us must go too!
Of course, the good news of Jesus Christ is for everyone here in Canada, not just the people on the other side of the globe. In that sense we believe that all believers in Jesus are called to be missionaries ... taking this good news to people all around us. However some are called to move beyond their own culture and serve God away from family, friends and familiarity. The following people are ones who have responded to that call and are serving God in distant lands:
We invite you to read more about these fine people and their missionary work by clicking on any of their names. All of them work through the International Missions department of our national fellowship, the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
We are also supportive of various ministries reaching out to cultures somewhate different than our own right here in Canada. We support an outreach on the campus of Lakehead University called ID17. It attempts to provide a Christian community at LU and reaches out to the students of the University through another ministry called RedFrogs. We also have a passion to make a difference amongst the First Nations and Aboriginal community in our region of Northwestern Ontario. We are trying to do that through support for NorthWind Family Ministries, a local organization that reaches out to the First Nations community of our area.
Jesus said that "To whom much has been given, much is required" and we believe that we have much we need to give to a needy world beyond the borders of our church, our city and our nation.
At Evangel Church, we not only believe in sending full-time missionaries out to different parts of the world ... we belive in going ourselves! On a fairly regular basis, we organize and facitlitate short-term missions trips for people in our Church to experience missions first-hand, and to be of assistance on a particular mission field.
We've been doing this for quite a long time now ... almost 15 years! And we've sent out numerous teams to countries like Brazil, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Ukraine, Kenya and Argentina. One of the former missionaries from our Church, Frank Bonazzo, and our former pastor, Gary Wilson, collaborated to create a Missions Team Manual that we use as a guide for anyone leading and preparing a missions trip. We've found it quite useful and we want to offer you the chance to download it and use it for yourself or in your church setting. Simply click on the Manual below to download:
